Three old schoolmates find their lives crossing once again as a strange mystery ties them to an ancient book, a masked messenger, and a golden robed figure that can be seen only in mirrors.
This was one of my darker games. Rocky, Mahar and Victor were the players in this game which explored the concepts of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos in a modern day setting. I found lots of ideas to use from Alan Moore's Neonomicon, with elements of the King in Yellow also being used as a centerpiece. Since the comic approached a meta-level of narrative with the characters talking about Leng as reality being the comic itself, I did the same thing with the players being told that their destines were merely playthings of the Great Old Ones who observe and make decisions for us without us ever knowing they did.
This game is also squeamishly infamous for having a player character realize that raping another player character was the only way to save her from one of the Deep Ones which wanted to mate with a virgin. Sanity is always a limited commodity in any incarnation of a Cthulhu storyline.
