Missing Fandom Live!

Years back, a group of friends and I dove into creating our own little version of a web-show called Fandom Live! It practically had no budget, earned nothing, and cost us a lot of money and effort to have happen once a month. It was a labor of love, and it admittedly was fun and at times hilarious to work on.

Our very first episode was a movie shot on January 28, 2008 and was a review of JJ Abrams movie, Cloverfield.  We had no clear idea on how to do a webshow. We didn't really think of the running time of the show or of scripts or even of having lights and sound systems.  We just wanted to try something different and our friend Paolo gave us a place to do it.

Before you know it, shooting Fandom Live! (which at that time was based on ustream.com) became something we really got into doing.  At first our episodes were focused on reviews of movies and television shows, but later on we started creating more original content such as the Fandom Olympics episode which set various fandoms to compete in different Olympic events, the Sesame Street Heroes episode where we cast members of Sesame Street to be characters in Heroes, and We:Make episodes where we "remake" a movie or show with our own casting (or in one episode called We:Make Live Action considered what animated shows we'd love to have shot as live action movies)

Yesh, the infamous Star Trek episode.
While clearing out my drive, I rediscovered the back-ups of the past episodes which Neek allowed me to copy from years back.  Suddenly, I realized there were some episodes that never got to be uploaded.   After asking some friends for permission, I'll be working on reuploading many of the lost episodes, including the ones for Dr. Who, How to Train Your Dragon, Cloudy with a Chance for Meatballs, and a few others.

Sighs.  Sometimes I wish we could find a way to shoot these episodes again.  But real life can make some dreams harder to reach for than others.

After the Rain ep24 : Houses of the Blooded

11/22/2014
After the Rain

Episode Twenty Four
"Death/Revenge"

Houses of the Blooded

Other Shanri.
Seran has taken note of her captors.  Of the former theater actors and of the other ven who had set camp.  She has easily noticed how they are unaccustomed to surviving from the ruins and were not as experienced as her in dealing with harsh conditions.  When Amaras Q'n notices Seran has recovered, the two converse about the events and how Seran's attempts to inspect how others are instead are seen as her prying for the weaknesses of the others.  She learns that both Oandur and Amaras had Cursed her (through Sorcery) and that from this point on, so long as they help her survive, they will not make things worse for her.  They blame her for the events.  They blame her for bringing the city to its knees.  A greater majority voted to have them beheaded when they arrived.  Seran wonders if she's to be a bargaining chip for the new comers.  Amaras explains she will simply be a face.  Amaras has been studying her all day.  And now, she uses some Blessing to gain her face.

Back in Shanri.
Galeo finds himself receiving a guest, the Duke of Tamal himself.  The Duke James speaks with Galeo to discuss the matter of the ork ven and how there are many of their numbers who still seek to punish them. There have been over ten ven killings since the Wolves have begun to prowl.  James repeats the question, suggesting a second meaning to his words.  They decide to set another meeting, and James whispers to Galeo to please keep his father safe.

Barely mintues after he has left, Galeo then receives a letter from the Duke of Tamal.  The letter invites Galeo to meet the Duke in his carriage, waiting outside.  The vassals advise Galeo against the meeting, given the Duke is of the same House as the Wolves stalking her lands.  They find the 30 wolves standing guard around the carriage.  20 are dressed to look like Valets despite the Bloodswords on their sides.  10 are dressed as Personal Guard.  They allow Galeo to enter the waiting carriage.  If this is to be Galeo's final ducal conversation, she decides to face it like a Fox.  She strides gracefully into the carriage.  Deep inside, the Duke welcomes her inside and once alone with Galeo, James admits he does not know where to start.  Galeo realizes James looks terrified.  He admits he knows his parents would not approve, but he is doing what he must.  He asks Galeo for the location of the Quill, then warns her that they have "them."  Galeo realizes the Wolves have her husband and her child.  When Galeo offers to take them to the Quill after she is taken to her family, James admits that her offer was anticipated hence he invited her to speak in the carriage.  The two had been inhaling cyanide.  James already has the antidote within him.  "The Wolves have anticipated every advantage. We have them, but we need the Quill."  Galeo realizes they desire the Quill to secure their safety.   The deaths are but a response to those who fought back.  The Quill is to allow a bloodless surrender.  "I am not your enemy, Galeo.  We all have a shadow cast over us."  With the limited time, the carriage is to bring them to the location of the Quill, and the guardsmen are to protect them in the journey.  Galeo admits the Quill is not accessible through the carriage.  She reaches out to Quan Wei to allow her to visit the Temple.  Galeo tells Quan Wei a burden is about to be lifted.  A door opens to allow them through.

A child stirs in Nia's arms.  Dalvinosh stares at the baby.  He admits there is always something magical about a new born child.    Nia does not allow him to see the child.  They discuss the ability to mingle Rituals into a new Sorcery.  Nia wonders if this is similar to Artifact creation.  Dalvinosh would love to explain more but is not allowed to see the child. He shares the story of meeting a stranger in the street during an affair.  The man turned and that moment, Dalvinosh found himself cowed by the stranger.  "He spoke to me and scolded me with my own face. My OWN face."  They talk next about Seran Thorne, and supposedly her relevance to the events unfolding.  And the question of why she would be back in the other Shanri.

Jalani and Jaric speak over dinner.  She worries about James given the recent acts of the Wolves according to many other nobles.   Jaric teases that they always become "his child" when they're doing something Jalani finds wrong.  They also discuss how Seran was the focus of the Vashna recently while in their daughter's lands.  James on the other hand visited Jalani to ask if Jaric and Galeo were close, and how to make an impossible choice.  The moment she realized her son was trying to talk about something, she asked if he brought her roses.  James admitted to her the Wolves want the Quill, and claim to have Hero and Cassalanter hostage.  But they don't really have them, what they have is Jessie's experimentation with sorcery.  The Wolves plan to have Jessie tried for Sorcery if Galeo does not play her part.  But sadly, the vassals plan to testify and they know where the Corpses hide, including the ones that still live.  Their family is the one truly attacked by the House of the Wolf.

The two realize the wolves need to be reined in.  And taught a lesson.  Without letting them know this is retaliation.  Jalani is tempted to commit Murder, perhaps disguised as self-defense. Jaric votes against it, feeling that is still against Tradition.  They learn of Nia having sent an Airship to search for Seran, having sent Errol with others to find her in the other Shanri.  They consider the advantages and disadvantages of letting Jaric's mother know about this.  "Remember how we used to just think she was some kind of a buffoon.  Funny the things people who love the spot lights do, they can surprise you."

"Are you thinking of someone else?" Jaric smiled.

Seran approaches the camp of the Bears and other.  She walks confidently up to the camp, unawares that Seran had been exiled from her own Shanri.  She calls out, asking for the commodore in charge.  One steps into towards her, stopping the work on affixing roofs to the shelters, and pushes his Bloodsword hilt into view as he stands to address her.  They exchange words, with him trying to learn who she is and she trying to learn more on who is in charge.  "I am Seran Thorne, you may know me for I am one of you."  The man, Asha Rusu, is surprised to find "the Explorer" here in the ruins of Other Shanri.  Another man suddenly pushes past Asha to see her better.  The man asks Seran by name and she hesitantly answers given she does not know who he is.

The camp refers to him as Master Lukas, but he tells Seran that she might recognize him more as Master Errol.  The Bears ask him why he is called Errol and he explains it was just his title back in Shanri.  They confirm then that he knows her.  He stares into her eyes, confused to why she asks him why they call him Lukas.

"It is not her.  It is a trick!"

Amaras disguise falls as the Bears draw their weapons towards her.

At the camp, Liliandra and the others hear from Seran that if they just talked to her properly, she could have gone to talk to them herself.  Amaras is running back to the camp, screaming for her dear life.  Seran pushes the closest one away, then yanks the spike that she was nailed down to out of the ground.  She brandishes it as a weapon, then runs full tilt towards the trees.  The ground itself begins to snaps, like claws, that attempt to trap her feet as they move in accordance to Liliandra's command over the elements.  Seran runs deeper into the woods, and her captors decide to focus on the bears.

Watching from the distance, Seran tries to learn what she can of the Bear camp.  She overhears the violence committed upon the theater troupe and the other survivors and feels sad for their loss. She hears a voice address her, and she turns to see Count Kether address him.  She is told that he has come to collect her by the Earl, but he is told she is not coming.  She wants to try and fix what she can.  She asks for an hour to settle the matter.  Dalvinosh begins to speak through Count Kether, tells her that her words will fall on deaf ears.  Count Kether eventually fades away.

Seran doubles back to try to get to the Bear camp, the guards this time force her to remain at a distance with the archers launching arrows.  One grazes Seran in the throat, stealing away her voice with an injury.  She catches two of the arrows in her hands, a feat most people cannot do.  Eroll witness all this.  Hurt by the earlier impostor, however, he vows to end her like the first one if it is determined to be another trick.  The camp call for Master Lukas, which shocks Seran.  Lukas asks for a Bloodsword, holds it before Seran, and she sees this Lukas has Errol's face.  She drops one of the arrows, and uses her own blood to recreate the blood on the wall similar to their last encounter.   Lukas heads down to meet with her face to face.

In the Temple of Quan Wei, James and Galeo walk into the grounds where Quan Wei has been posing as Thalia all these years.  Galeo feels the cyanide creeping inside her veins, already making her giddy and light-headed.  James reminds her the antidote is in his blood.  Quan Wei's projection looks at the visitors, confused to why they are all here.  James begs for the Quill, but Galeo admits she cannot give it unless Quan Wei is willing to as well.  James admits this is wrong, and he turns to face the empty space behind him.  Robes fall, dispelling the invisibility that cloaked the three swordsmen that stood behind James.  Two rush forward to Galeo and Quan Wei, while the third stays behind James.  Galeo threatens them that if they step one more step further and the one who blesses the Wolves will fall.  Galeo considers using the Secret Name of Falvren Dyr in a reckless bid to protect herself, a name she had gained access to when she checked if the Suaven ever gave his secret name to the Quill.  Galeo's left arm is sliced away as she hisses and threatens to bring down their entire House with the use of the Secret Name of their very Suaven!  Quan Wei's projection loses an arm as well as the other swordsman strikes.  The two attackers hold, and this time it is James who moves.  He is forced to his knees as he tells her, "The Quill.  Galeo Silja.  This is the last time they will ask."  Tears stream down his cheeks.

A newcomer.  Galeo sees a Grinning Man in all black emerge, walking around the ven beyond their notice.  She hears another voice in her head, that of a angry old man.  You drag my name into this?    Galeo realizes the voice is Falvren Dyr.

A scream!  James loses his left arm as a Bloodsword cleanly cleaves it off.  The Wolf behind James smiles.  Blood sprays out from their wounds.  James cries out for Galeo.

You dare threaten the House of the Wolf.

A second slice.  James loses his right arm.  His face flushes pale.  His tears have stopped flowing.  His voice... gone save for one final statement. "Father... I am sorry..."

Galeo lurches to get the Quill which was hidden under the seventh step of the pedestal.  She begins to pry it open.  She can see her own skin turning red from the Poison.  She brings the Quill to the Wolves, but collapses as the weakness starts to spread.  Galeo staggers to the ground, crawls, and struggles to get closer.  The Grinning Man walks alongside her.  It is almost as if he was saying, "I know what you are going to do."   Quan Wei is praying, whispering for someone Galeo cannot hear.  And the Wolf behind James levels the Bloodsword at the young man's throat.

"Now," Quan Wei gasps.

Galeo calls for the Blessing to speak through motions to Quan Wei in secret and say, "I am sorry. I will try to drive them out as best as I can."

"Old One-Eye," Galeo gasps, "You are not He anymore.  With this name," Galeo mutters Falyrn Dyr's Secret Name, "I bind you.. trapped. I was not sent here to hear you. I was sent here to Silence you. I hear your voice not because I am blessed, I hear your voice because I was meant to hunt you down. Begone. Shanri wants you no longer."

As the words are uttered, the Wolves turn, confused feeling something in their blood.  The leader recognizes what is happening, or at least thinks so.  He swings the blade, but no longer at James, but at Galeo's throat to silence her.  It cuts clean, spraying blood into the walls of Quan Wei's temple.  He grabs the Quill from Galeo's dying hands, and stares at her and utters, "How dare you!"  Coldness.  Galeo fails to see what happens next, save for the Grinning Man who leans closer and closer until a light forces him away and a woman says, "Not yet."

*

Jaric meets up with his mother, Maja Thayl, and lets her know of the threat to her sisterhood.  She learns about the vassals that claim to have witnessed Jessie's acts of Sorcery, of Galeo's blackmail, of James' need to threaten her, and of the Wolves' desire to claim the Quill.   They know the vassals can be dealt with quickly, but the Wolves would be harder to strike down.  Jaric stresses how James did not even trust the Ritual of the Rose.  Maja admits James' fear is because he never studied it.  She promises to deal with the vassals on her own way.  They agree that the Wolf would be harder to deal with unless they bring down the head of the House.

Maja can learn where the Earl of the Wolf will be and Jaric can send his Spymaster to finish the job.  Jaric admits he is his own Spymaster. They realize they cannot visit Galeo to avoid and semblance of having planned it with her.  Cassalanter and Hero were sent by Maja to her "birthplace" to keep them safe.  It was also the first set of records she erased of herself. While the wolves will not know that this is a retaliation, perhaps the younger ones will eventually realize it.

*

Maja visits Nia upon seeing she has daughters, and asks for her help to deal with matters, and while in the child's room, she points at the alphabet to spell out A-R-M-Y and V-A-S-S-A-L-S K-I-L-L-E-D.  Nia leads her to a collection by Galeo in exchange for Recognition of both of the daughters as she asks what it is related to.  The hand points to the art piece with a map of the Province where the vassals live.    Nia suggests R-I-O as she talks about the plans for the Althua.  And the two talk about Rio becoming a full Vassal under Jaric.  Nia admits Jaric is one of her favorite people and so she will provide it.   Maja wonders why they were never friends, and she admits she did not want to take certain joys away from him.

Dalvinosh Steele arrives to send Nia a report. Maja recognizes him but denies that they know one another.  She leaves the two to map out their plans.  Dalvinosh gives his report and shares the whereabouts and activities of the other Silja, Galeo's sister.  He admits he spied on her and has learned she focuses on being far better than Galeo.   Nia mentions one of her barons is missing and tasks him to find out what is going on.

"You may have to see this," he suddenly mutters and shows Nia a figure watching as Seran walks away from ruins.  Seran stands in some kind of a camp.  The ruins are the other Shanri.  Their suspicions are correct: Seran Thorne is in the other Shanri.  "More than that, it seems you are as well," Nia catches and tells him he should include the information of such Tulpa in his next report.

Jaric meets with his mayor, Szaz, and after ensuring all securities possible, they discuss of a venom of a Serpent that does not kill but paralyzes the throat making the victim unable to speak.  He asks to have this administered to the Earl of the Wolves.   Given everything that has happened, Jaric admits it is time for the wolves to be taught a lesson.  "The Earl will live.  It is against the laws of Shanri to use the five Poisons."  The act is to be accomplished as soon as possible, as the Senate hearing has yet to happen.  Szaz understands and will time the dose to hit precisely when needed.  Jaric also suggests to Szaz to suggest to others not recognized by the Senate to consider having a home in his land.

Nia sends a letter to Galeo's sister to suggest about a sword she had found which might be of interest.
In the Other Shanri, Bowen stares at three figures, with blue eyes and robes concealing their features. One steps forward to raise its hand and waits for the Ork to announce itself.  Bowen makes the proper marks of their Gods and his position as "Q,val" among their kind.  The lead figure steps forward, his green skin visible and matching Bowen's.  The hood is cut in tapered in the shape of a Wolf's head.  It asks, "What brings outsider to Debanin?"  Bowen has not heard of the term Debanin before.  He tries to express this is not the first meeting and that he seeks the Ghosts.  Bowen expresses he serves the Ahlvees and now even talks for them.   One directly asks if Bowen can speak the language of the ven, and Bowen admits he can.  The man identifies himself as "One of the Vashna" and asks if Bowen is from those sent to the North when the city fell for the first time.  Bowen confirms.  The man invites him with them and that he is under the guardianship of Debanin Clan.  Bowen hesitates, and admits lacking a cloak.  Meeting did not go well.  The speaker admits the name Vashna was used for the ven for those who lost their status, but for him it is his name.  Vincent Vashna is his name, House of the Horse, and he welcomes Bowen to tell them of his people.  "Tell me of the others that we saved before."

The poison is slipped into the Earl's wine as he prepares for the Senate hearing.    The Earl is discovered to also have an unrecognized child, and as a direct act of retaliation, the child is murdered by the Szaz.   And finally, Szaz accomplishes it completely undiscovered.

Lukas forces the Bloodsword against Seran to keep her at distance.  He demands she say something only she would know.  In the corner of her eye, Seran sees the red-haired woman watching in the crowd... or is she.  Seran turns around, pulls up her shirt, and shows on her back, the tattoo she always had.  He recognizes the mark.  But when she turns to face him again, the red-haired woman is standing between them.  No one else seems to notice her there.

"You win this round," she hisses.

Galeo opens her eyes.  Death is closing in on her.  She realizes her head is on the lap of the red-haired woman.  The floor all around them is red too, from the blood that has fallen.  The demon strokes her hair and admits Seran won the bet.  "They have been reunited.  Now it is your turn," she smiles.  Galeo sees James still kneeling, with blood falling down his sides.   On the other side, Galeo sees Quan Wei's body, is unmoving, but her Suaven body is red and her lips are cracked.  "She traded places with you," the demon explains, "I thought it was a nice gesture given Quan Wei was trying to remind people that Thalia was still out there.  But now we know there is no one to receive her prayers. I think you are ready to be Suaven.  Or is it time for the world to realize no one answers for her."

She leans closer and whispers to Galeo, "Guess who he is praying to right now," she taunts as she motions at James.  Galeo focuses her eyes on the demon and starts rambling to herself about how tired she must be.  "It must be so hard not really having a say over what you do. I see it now.  I'll take your job. And you can take over mine."  She mumbles about hearing her pleas and that no one is listening.   She makes a final wish to the demon...

*

The Senate hearing finally happens.  Maja Thayl on the dais addresses the ven and Recognizes the daughters of Nia Jalan and Janine Mwrr: Rio, Thea and Gillian.  She then announces her willingness to Blood the daughter, Rio, to be recognized in full as a member of the House of the Elk.   The next speaker is a member of House Fox who raises again the concern about too many killings happening outside of the castles.  The Earl of the Fox shushes her to respond with a single word.  She says, "I am sorry your Grace," but the Earl reminds her, "One word."  She realizes she must answer in one word.

"Ven?" the Earl asks.

"..... no."

"Settled," the Earl asks.

"...yes."

The next speaker turns out to be Jalani Balan, the Marquess of Paradigm.  She addresses the gathered and admits she speaks on behalf of their son, the Duke of Tamal, James Adrente.  She tells them they are celebrating his birthday today.  And that he would be celebrating the birthday now had he not been murdered.

Jaric stares in horror.  He realizes she is going to accuse him in the Senate itself.

"I call upon the Earl of the Wolves.  If you are innocent, then say so.  Speak of your innocence or by the Laws of the Ven, I demand for Revenge."  The Earl of the Wolves, angered,  attempts to retort, but Jaric's well-chosen poison kicks in and Szaz' perfectly-timed delivery steals his words away.  With all seeing him silent, unable to say anything, Jalani calls for the Dukes to cast their votes.

As they deliberate, Nia Jalan stands up to represent the voice of a Dukedom and she finds the Courage to be the first to speak up.  Her defiant nature allows her to be first.  "As there is no defense from the Earl of the Wolves, the Voice of Duke Hors of the Province of Mekeni declares a verdict permitting Revenge to True Pain."   Dukes begin to share their votes.  The votes shift for and against with each standing speaker.   The Wolves however do not seem united in their votes.   And clearly they shift in Jalani's favor.

The voting is interrupted however when the Senate hall violently moves.  The building trembles and the walls quake.  Many begin to panic. Jalani focuses the attention by calling out "Jaric Thayl! Are you not the Duke of Tamal?  You have not voted!"   Jaric realizes with the son's death, the lands are unclaimed.  He cautiously responds that he has not been recognized by the Senate.  The forms must be obeyed.  Jalani admits he is right, and thus, turns to ask for the count of the votes.  The Earl of the Wovles is panicking as no words still come out of his lips.  In the call for good faith, Jalani asks for the vote to be moved until after Jaric is recognized as the Duke of Tamal and offers to have the Act of Revenge to be committed during their celebratory Althua.

She bows.

But Jaric alone sees Jalani trembling as she walks away, and stumbles as she steps out of the light.

*

Galeo makes her final wish.  The demon whispers that she is so proud of her for making that wish, and then bids James goodbye.  "I hope you realize what sort of Shanri you are leaving your daughter," she tells Galeo and grants her the wish.   White spidery webs wrap around Galeo as she slips into Solace.

*

Cassalanter stares at his father's eyes.  Somehow she knows what is happening.  A hand touches her forehead.  A small glow emerges.  The red-haired woman leans close.

"That is what your mother has gone through. It will take some time, but I cannot wait for you to avenge her.  Do not forget.  I made it happen," the red-haired woman smiles and remembers the wish she granted Galeo.   She turns and sees the Grinning Man staring at her.  She pulls away in fear.

Afhil, the Grinning Man, speaks.

It is you. I found you.

I'm still struggling to believe this IS happening

I am still trying to completely grasp that this is happening.
But yes, it is.  If the Kickstarter hits the required amount, I'll be part of a book that John Wick is authoring.

OMG.

The three games were already awesome when they were first written.  Now, John Wick is giving the three stories a whole new spin of terror.  And is even tailoring it work with his new game, Unnamable.

So guys, spread the word and let's support the Kickstarter for Curse of the Yellow Sign.

Fire and Darkness : The Aether Sea

12/20/2014

Fire and Darkness
The Aether Sea : FATE

This was to be the 12th game for my 12 games for 2014.

It was an adventure in space with the unlikeliest of heroes.  Well, perhaps not all of them were heroes.  And not all of them were... let's just say, in the end, it was an adventure unlike any expected.

Among them were:

Braid Locke, sidestreet walker, a kender collector with exceptional skills.

Nabaninth Maluwig, Yezaksigo Scout with a unbreakable loincloth.

March of the Emerald Vale, a disgraced Ship Capture who always cared about what was in it for him.

Bludwen Arrowsmith, the youngest and only daughter of the Arrowsmith dwarves who believed anything guys can do, she could do better.

Johnson Whitaker, the only human elves adored who could never resist forbidden fruit.

The scene opens with a figure in the dark recesses of the ship.  The vessel resembles a galleon, over 80 meters long with three levels.  The veiled circle is wrapped around March and this makes him invisible to any onlookers as he converses with the dark lords.  They speak of the exorcist in their presence and they share how the shadows call for the blood of Johnson Whitaker.  March promises to do his best, though the man is favored by the elves.  He is to live until they are certain of his potential.

A light comes.  A lantern is being carried by someone heading down the steps.  March breaks the circle to end the communion and pulls out his notebook.  Nabaninth arrives with the lantern to check on March, as commanded by the Captain of the vessel.   As March looks up from the pages, he sees how the elves' eyes glow in the darkness.  Nabaninth realizes how much the elf sticks.  Minutes pass as Nabaninth waits to be acknowledges, but March ignores him.  The stare down stretches on.

In the mess hall, the Captain is also the chef of the ship.  He is stirring the pot as he talks to Braid Locke about the sweet and succulent sausages of the seraphim spheres.  He shows the golden flecks swirling in the meatball stew he is cooking.  He talks of the seraphim with eight wings whom he had met and rambles on about that trip, blind to how Braid Locke notices the dish does not look like anything she had tasted in the seraphim spheres in her time there.  He talks about ignoring for the fact she had a lion for a face.  He scoops a meat ball and asks her to taste it.  She realizes it is the most horrible thing she ever tasted.  Being always Hungry for the New, Braid Locke ends up happy with the experience despite it not being the same thing she had tried before.  "Your own version?  Very exqu... ex... uh.. I cannot even say the word anymore."  The Captain seems hurt, however.  He senses she didn't like it.  Braid suggests he simple has a different taste to it.  Unhappy with her response, Captain Nizzie Lazada leaves her to take charge of the cooking.

At the deck, Johnson Whitaker sees the different spheres, different stars and different ships in the distance.  Not too far distant is their destination: The Royal Glory.  He remembers it to be a well-used Amethyst class ship of the Royal Navy.  It is one of the largest ships in the Elven fleet, appearing as a massive tree with the roots up front as a ram, and the leaves behind as the engine.  Taking a deep drag of his cigar, he mutters, "Only elves."  Also airborne are the personal fighter vessels they use, piloted flowers that scout the surroundings.  The Captain arrives, with his platinum hair having the black streak betraying his age.  He takes a puff from Johnson's tinder stick, and blows out a smoke portrait of Braid Locke.  He stresses how much he doesn't like her, especially since she does not know how to lie to flatter him.  He prods and asks Johnson what he thinks of their ship, stressing that its beauty is also reflected in its name: The Stamen.  "We are the only Stamen in the fleet.  The ship can even merge with its sister ship, the Pistil."  His declarations shifts to his sister, who despises him for using his Stamen and getting paid for it.  Johnson offers that his sister will soon appreciate the things he has been doing.   They soon notice Bludwen who is busy tinkering with the cannons of the vessel.  They hurry to confront her about it.

He confronts Bludwen for manhandling his Stamen, and she insists she is oiling it to make it work better.  His frustrations shift again when he realizes the orc has not returned with the missing March.  He mumbles about his sister, and about how Johnson is the only human the elves would ever adore.  "An elf can only love one for an entire lifespan.  And they can love only one which they Recognize."  Bludwen teases however that they have some kind of triangle between them.  Captain Lazada goes exasperated as he explains the difference between the two.  Light flashes between the two of them, and an elven woman emerges as an illusion upon them. The woman asks them to identify themselves and warns them they are within the cannon's perimeter.

Johnson replies with the proper credentials and they are allowed to proceed with docking procedures. Upon learning she is talking with Johnson, however, she flusters and nearly sends the wrong coordinates.  The scouts begin to escort the Stamen to the proper docking bay.  March confronts Johnson for handling communications, given he usually should be the one to do so.  Johnson, however, stresses that he simply did what the Captain needs of him.  To insult him, he stresses his name as March, not Marc (with the silent h).  He learns that the ship is to be welcomed by Merigamo, who turns out to be the sister of the Captain himself. Johnson tries to reassure them that he can handle the piloting despite the closeness of the scouts, but March ignores him.  To March's annoyance, however, the orc shows up and starts attempting another staredown with him.

With the ship prepping landing procedures, Braid Locke thankfully is told by the Captain to leave the food be as they finalize arrangements for the landing procedures.  Johnson perfectly lands the ship (of course, its perfect) in a position that makes it ready to leave the ship if need be at a later time, and the crew soon disembark to see the Royal Navy in formation to welcome them at the landing bay.  Merigamo is dressed in a fabulous gown with metallic wings, functional extensions that can be used as weapons if she so desired to.  Nabaninth openly shares with the others how kids in his tribe used to catch those things with wings on them with nets and stuff.  "Isn't she like a butterfly?  I know you smell weird, but, I didn't know you were an insect."  Bludwen on the other hand is enthralled at the thought of the mechanism of the wings.  The Captain facepalms as he explains she is wearing a dress.

There is some tension once more between the Captain and Merigamo when she welcomes Johnson with the traditional holding of hands.  Bludwen covets her butterfly dress given it looks like it may conceal weapons.  Given the racist tendencies of the elves, they come forward and clip fake ears upon all the ears of the crew to give them "fake elven ears."  Nabaninth, however, does not like them touching him.  He punches the elf in the throat and all stare frightened of what the orc just did.  The guards close in, but thankfully both Merigamo and Nizzie Lazada tell the others to stand down.  Johnson draws out his own elf ears and offers them to Nabaninth to wear.  March tries to "wave away" the social faux pas as a hilarious moment, rather than an insulting one.  Nabaninth ends up wearing the false ears upside down.

While the elves handle their affairs, both Bludwen and Braid Locke wander the massive vessel and soon find themselves in a section where multiple decks can be easily viewed from balconies.  It is there that they find interest in a strange device that seems to be carefully escorted in one of the lower decks.  The floating discs of light carry the device between the guards.  Braid Locke, coming from a different floor, begins to jump from railing to railing to reach the lower level and get closer.  Bludwen sees her approach, and as she complains about Braid Locke showing of her "Parr something.." she noticed a robed figure, another dwarf, complaining the same.  Braid yells out, "Parkour!" as she continues her movement.  The dwarf identifies himself as Dobbin Arrowsmith, and when he learns of Bludwen's name, he reacts with surprise given the family knows her to be dead.  They even celebrate her death anniversary quite consistently.  To prove their lineage, both show off their solar splitters.  They've known her to be dead for the past ten years.   Their father has told everyone else that she fell in the war with the Orcus horde.  He even claims there were images of her last battle.  Her father, as it turns out, never admitted that he sent her to sail with the Stamen.  Soon, they realize they are family when they both know of the fact Bludwen was mistaken for a son for the first seven years of her life.  Bludwen asks about their father's Elemental Guns that spit out acid, lightning and other ammunition.  Their reunion is filled with laughter as they realize she is alive and that the whole family is at some level below, waiting to show the prototype of the weapon to the Elves.

Braid Locke, as she follows and stays close enough to the group with the disc, recognizes the other kender in the same floor who is pretending to drink coffee.  She throws the sign language message to him suggesting, "Teamwork"but he replies with a finger running across the nose to say, "No. I was first," in response.   Realizing she hasn't stopped her approach to the disc, he stands up and begins to move closer as well to the disc.  The guards notice his approach, but not hers.  They activate their personal shields in response to his approach.  Using her parkour, she slides closer to eavesdrop on their discussions.  They confront the kender to identify himself and one even casts a spell to invoke a mystical eye to sense any lies.  He walks away rather than answer, leaving Braid Locke to have an opportunity to work alone.  She does notice, however, he has a map with him.  She opts to continue shadowing the group. The two meet and discuss later to finalize who lays claim on the object on the disc first! The Kender turns out to be March (with a "ch") and the two discuss that the object is a dwarven treasure of some sort, and that one of the two escorted discs is a decoy, and it is so great that one of the Dwarven Class Protectors is out there docked to protect it.    Braid Locke asks why is it here and he responds that he doesn't know, "I just found it."  He offers her a Sphere of her own, an island or two if she desires, if she helps him gain the device.  She, however, mentions she has a dwarven friend who might know what it is, and March rolls his eyes on the idea that female dwarves exist.  "The next thing you'd tell me is that Orcs can be intelligent!"

Nabaninth starts going around, staring down at the guards in the area.  He tries to grab one of their solar spitters, but he feels the green field keep his hand at bay.  He draws out chalk to write on the field, but it does not work. The elf apologizes that the Lambert Armor resists all physical threats.  He continues challenging one of the guards, tempted to provoke them to test his strength against theirs.  Most he approach nonchalantly activates their personal forcefield barriers in anticipation of pain.  He shifts the challenge to a staredown, but in response an Orc in Elven armor appears, commands the soldiers to stare down, and when he attempts to do the "Fistbump" greeting among Orcs, the newcomer parries the bump, somersaults over him, and forces him to the ground.  Nabaninth is surprised that there is an Orc wearing such armor.  The Orc identifies Nabaninth as a Scout and even identifies him to be of a tribe that was wiped out.  "You are the Ninth child, Mulawig. The eloquent one."  It soon becomes apparent that the Orc Among the Elves turns out to be someone who used to be from his tribe as well.  In fact, when he smells the Orc, he realizes it is a woman!  He realizes she was an old flame who was exiled for choosing to read rather than fight.  After around seven different attempts to recognize her, he finally remembers her to be the one with a scar on the chest.  "I am Watcha.. and you used to always joke about my name, saying 'Whatcha name?'"  When Nabaninth looks around to boast to the elves he knows her, he notices they have all left them behind.  She asks if he has been doing his part to repopulate the tribe, even asking about his wedding to Lusu, how it failed with Hogan, Roso, Ugath, and others.  Nabanith denies it had worked with any of them.  He gets serious as he admits he has not pillaged successfully and even cites her being a woman thus he would not understand.  She finds offense in his claims, disengages her armor, and shows she too is covered in scars.  When he challenges whether she has pillaged, she reminds him she had been exiled.  She is no longer orc.  She, however, has never forgotten what the two of them once had.

Johnson and the elves discuss matters away from the rest.  Merigamo however and Johnson feel the Recognition between them.  There is an undeniable matching of their... energies.  Johnson however admits the First Mate's duty is to his Captain.  Merigamo sighs, "I've never Mated" and leaves. March raps Johnson on the back of the head to remind him the Captain is waiting for him.  In truth, however, March's action was to steal a few strands of hair from the supposed Chosen one.  March returns back to the bowels of the Stamen.  The Captain and Johnson talk about divine entities and the like.  They talk of the Undying Lights and how Johnson seeks desperately for proof of the deities, but the Captain explains the stars and lights in the sky are not gods.  They are just spheres and moons.

How do I tell him the stars have increased in number
because the elves have increased their territory?

But Johnson notices dark shapes moving in the shadows.  He draws out his weapon and opens fire at it, hitting nothing but the wall!  The guards show up and surround Johnson, calling for him to drop the weapon.  Even the Captain is angry that Johnson had just discharged his solar spitter in the corridor.  The elves argue over who will get the weapon from him given the laws for using weapons in public areas.  Many of them begin to talk to each other in Elven, and in the end, Johnson is allowed to leave.

March summons the dark forces once again while alone.  They send him images and he learns of what must be done.   The images are... unexpected.   But they do clarify the goal he is to focus on.

The Captain wants to finalize what cargo they are supposed to carry with them when they leave.  He insists that Johnson bear in mind elves do not sleep, and he plans to save most of his time focused on him.  He fears his sister had twisted her with her presence.  They head for the Admiral. March emerges to follow behind them, and when a door locks between them, he summons a black shadow to open the door behind them.  He claims he was gathering information in his absence.  He promises to do his best to learn from the human.  He asks for a word to speak with the Captain.  The two speak in pure Elven to discuss secretly that there are stories of a possible threat out in the Aether, a dark star.  Neither realize that Johnson understands every word, being the only human who is loved by the elves.  The Captain remind March that Marigamo is not to be close to Johnson at any time, but he does promise March to see what he can do to bring the ship to the Dark Star.

Nabaninth and Whatcha discuss looking for the other crew members, with her stressing the use of the True Magic to find the others.  He stresses however that she is the reason she was thrown away from the tribe.  She now accepts that she is an elf, not an orc.  He storms away, not liking the elven things.  She suggests maybe he should leave the ship.  He yells back he is working on finding them.

The kender tells the dwarves about the treasure, and while Dobbin admits he doesn't quite trust the kender, Bludwen proudly admits she trusts her.  The trust takes Braid Locke aback for a moment.  They head down to meet with the family down below, and realize neither of them can open the door to where the object is stored safety.  Four black shadows emerge, stretching from the walls and close in on them.  Bludwen calls out for Dobbin to see the threat closing in.  The shadows rise up into three-dimensional humanoid shapes, armed with bladed weapons.  The dwarves draw their solar spitters and fire away.  Braid Locke remembers the solar spitter pistol she had stolen from Bludwen many years back and tries to draw it to shoot at the shadows as well.  Unfortunately, given her deep pockets, she finds instead a mug!  The moment, however, the trigger is pressed, sirens blare out in the ship!  One shadow loses an arm from the shot.  A second swipes at Bludwen to slash at her, but she dodges out of the way easily.  Dobbin opens fire as well, shooting the head of the one that struck at Bludwen.  Braid Locke dodges the shadows that move close, ready to smash the mug into the head of the closest shadow.  Another shadow closes in, with its hands merging into a spinning wheel of blades.  Bludwen uses her Uncanny Accuracy to tear into the wheel of death and kill the shadow.  Braid Locke realizes the mug is actually a solar collector and points it at the last shadow and pries it open.  The blade clips her on the left hand, as well as taking away some hair.

The Captain and the others see the walls light up as the warnings emerge.  The fight is then visible to the crew.  Realizing the others are involved, Johnson hurries to the area.  So does Nabaninth and Watcha.  March reminds the Captain the need to secure the weapon to destroy the dark star.  The Captain tells March to lead the way. When Watcha attempts to punch Nabaninth to stall him and tell him this is all elven business, he remembers her fear of beetles and uses his orc magic to summon an illusion of a large beetle to scare her.  The illusion delays Watcha long enough for Nabaninth to throw an orcish weapon at her face, one made of stone.  They question each other if the other is trying to prove something.  He insists he rather continue the confrontation another time and tries to slip away to get to the others.  He pulls his loincloth out and she recognizes it to be the tribal relic.  He holds it before her to silence her for a moment.

More shadows emerge as Johnson makes his way to the others as quick as he can.  He fails to notice the figure in the alcove.  He does see Braid Locke struggling against her shadow.  Johnson draws out his Undying light source, then proclaiming a call to his Faith, he banishes the thing away.  The light fades revealing them all, but none of the shadows.  The security of the Elves declares all to surrender with their hands in the air.  Bludwen reminds Dobbin that their Father always told him his weapon is small and he is to pocket it.  Watcha arrives with Nabaninth, and Johnson tries to calm the situation down.  Watcha turns out to be the Captain of the Guard, and she tells them to surrender to the Guard.  The Captain calls for Nabaninth to come to his side.  Watcha, however, tells them to repeat what they said.  Bludwen explains they were accosted by dark shadows with sickles for arms.  March gasps at the term dark shadows, amused at this attack.  He whispers to the Captain to discuss the mission quickly to the elves.  Watcha has the security footage replay, and to their surprise, there is no sign of any shadows in the images.

Johnson however admits he expected this would happen, given the walls captured light.  Their enemies were not of light.  The Admiral releaves Watcha of her duties, and commands her to proceed to the brig.  The Admiral addresses the Captain as his cousin, and that it has been a long time.  Bludwen tries to gather some of the ashes from the ground which the enemies.  March fails to catch this.   Braid Locke tries to explain to the Captain everything that has happened, and Bludwen feels slighted he trusts Braid Locke more than her.  The Captain demands Nabaninth explain this flirtation, and he does apologize for it.  When he asks if he was trying to initiate a relationship, he admits he was ending one but clearly she is into him too much to accept it.  The Admiral insists, "She is an elf. Clearly you should know appearances do not determine who you are." Nabaninth, being the tribal illusionist, reverses the image to make his point.  He transforms to a draconian, then to a rabbit, then he steps in and out of it.  March admits the sight of this makes him feel like throwing up.  Nabaninth transforms himself to look like a Mindflayer and then throws a muscle pose to highlight his orcish nature.  Johnson admits he is familiar with the need to copulate with others.  Nabaninth admits he smells the same need within him.

The door opens. Marigamo arrives.  Bludwen, curious, watches the Captain.  The Captain stares at Johnson.  Curious to the shift in the atmosphere, Nabaninth tries to read the Captain's discomfort, but he's not certain who is causing it.  He asks the Captain aloud why he's suddenly feeling that way.  The Captain admits his crew is not as efficient as his own, but admits there's a reason they are in the vessel.  He asks March of the Emerald Vale to share the threat he has been aware of.  He expresses the troubles ahead, shifting to Elvish at most of the details however.  The Admiral turns to the wall and has the adjoining room become visible.  Bludwen's eyes widen in surprise to see her family in the other side.  The Admiral asks the Dwarves if they understood the declaration, and they admit they do.  The opt to deal with the matter jointly.

Johnson, however, suspects March is up to something and mistakenly believes he is meant to be the one who should destroy the Dark Star.  The rest of them are thrown back to the cabins to wait, while the others are to discuss things.

The Elves, the Dwarves and the crew of the Stamen now understand why there have been reports of Elven vessels have ceased to communicate in a certain sector of the Aether.   And how the Dwarves seemingly have created such a weapon at such an auspicious moment.  The KingDwarf however admits only Dwarves can use it, and that it has not been tested fully outside a vessel.  Marigamo is curious to what the nature of the threat is.  March shares the shadow agents must be a hint to what the threat is.  Johnson admits seeing the shadows and trying to shoot them down.  The nature of the threat seems to be magical in nature.   If not infernal.  Or abyssal.  Maybe even sorcerous.    Johnson feels it may be a demon.  They think the threat fears what the weapon can do to it.  When the KingDwarf questions why this human would know of the darkness, March explains he is a Priest of the Undying Light.  Marigamo is shocked to learn this.  More so the fact he is under a vow of celibacy.

Back in the room, while Braid Locke and Nabaninth discuss what has been happening, the ceiling grill opens up to reveal a second kender.  "One kender is bad enough," Nabaninth gasps.  Braid Locke recognizes March and stops the orc from throwing the rock at the newcomer.  She complains he had vanished and ruined their plan, but he reveals he has a wound from a stray shot and that he needs to fulfill his promise to the Lord... to the client.  He convinces the two to help him complete the big sale, given they have only a few hours left to fulfill the exchange.  Braid Locke, however, realizes he's twice now slipped and called the client something more honorific.  The kenders secretly discuss the possibility of the orc being a distraction.  The orc throws a rock at him, out of irritation.  March reveals he is a Spellsword and shows a demonstration by invoking a sword of flame with a single incantation.  When the orc teases him about being someone who can spell the word sword, the kender uses the flaming blade to burn him on the chest.  "Insult me again and you will face the wrath of all five elements," the kender growls.

Back in the meeting, March brings up the Stamen being the best ship in the fleet. Marigamo however does challenge that.  Johnson agrees and he explains that the Stamen is one of the fastest, and the Pistil is not fast enough on its own, but when both are cojoined, the vessels are meant to function perfectly together.  The KingDwarf breaks into laughter at the idea that the ships can join together.   The Admiral turns to the human, admitting he is right.  March then adds it is then just a matter of finding the right person to bring the weapon to the Dark Star.  The Captain is bothered that Johnson and Marigamo are to be flying together, cojoined.  The KingDwarf still does not grasp how the prototype weapon is to work given it is merely a hand weapon.  "How can such a thing murder a star?"  March admits it is what it is.

The weapon cannot be wielded for it harms the wielder.  No one of sufficient fortitude exists who can bear it without succumbing to the pain.  Johnson wonders if Nabaninth might actually have that fortitude.  Marigamo however asks about the demons, wonders who has invoked them.

March and Braid Locke talk about the client and he lets slip that the client can only stay... I mean visit for an hour.  She tries to think of a way to convince March that they need to go to the dwarves first.  "She has knowledge on how to use the weapon," she admits, "We need Bludwen."  He realizes they need to do this before time runs out.

In the dwarven landing platform, the dwarves welcome their sister back!  She wonders what they buried in the grave to represent her.  She learns their father, the KingDwarf, actually claimed to have witnessed her death and for the last ten years, they've all been mourning her passing.  She asks them about the weapon, and they admit that none of the weapons are downstairs.  Instead, there is a giant cube, a Dwarven Vault, with them the whole time.  As they open it, the cube adjusts and cycles into a twenty-sided container, then shifts once more to reveal... it is empty!

Braid Locke and the others arrive that moment, and Bludwen proudly introduces them to her brothers.  Braid Locke tells her she is "Half Braid Locke now given her hair," and the group discusses that they have much to discuss, and have to avoid being arrested.

The group discuss the matter of flying to the Dark Star, and someone who can handle the pain should wield the weapon to kill the Dark Star.  The elves ask to take command of the safety of the device, and the KingDwarf admits he is unhappy that it had been taken from them without his consent.  The Admiral admits it was done given the weapon was deemed to be a threat even to the Royal Guard itself.  But as a show of good faith, the Admiral calls for the Royal Glory to secure the chamber of the weapon to open only for one single person, a member of Captain Lazada's crew.  The Captain volunteers March's name, given its rarity.

Back in the dwarven chamber, March explains to them that they can open the vault and get the device.  But Bludwen asks why they have to get it in advance and ask permission to get it.  Braid Locke doesn't see a problem with getting it that moment.  March yells that it is because they are under attack!  Dark shadows emerge and close in to attack them.  Nabaninth begins juggling his weapons to be ready to fight.  The dwarven brothers see the incoming threats.  Sadly, none of them are armed with weapons given the Elves rules of not using weapons in the Royal Glory.  Seeing the threat, they draw their weapons and decide to risk their father's ire.  March reminds Braid Locke and the rest they have to go right now.  The time is short.

March throws a challenge to Nabaninth, stating that the dwarves believe they can fight better than him.  He suggests he show them how good he can fight these shadows.  Nabaninth creates an illusionary wall of light to surround them.  Unfortunately, these demons seem to be unaffected by the illusions!   The rest of them run for the chamber.  Braid Locke is starting to have doubts regarding March, so he calls out to Nabaninth to follow them when he can.    Bludwen is curious to why the kender is so interested in the weapon.  Both kender end up replying, "Because it is shiny!"

The Admiral reinstates the Captain to the Elven Navy and orders him to accompany the Captain Marigamo.  The two are shocked at the decision.  The KingDwarf still remains uncertain who will wield the weapon given it is an Ultimate-Nullifier, as it has killed anyone who has used it.  Marigamo is aghast however, given she thought Johnson was to fly with her.  Instead, he is tasked to cast protections to protect the device.

Alarms go on.  Illusionary screens project and show the fight the dwarves are having, even if they cannot see any enemy besides what looks like an orc.   Johnson is to accompany March to go to the device and protect it.

Braid Locke, March and Bludwen arrive at the room where the weapon is stored and as they discuss the plans to move the weapon to keep it safe, the security systems of the door open on their own in response to his name.  Bludwen is shocked, "You're name is March too?!?! I know another one."    March, however, does use this moment (even as it surprises him) as "proof" that this is part of the major plan of the leaders above.  They see the two discs. Only one is the truth.  Bludwen studies the two and through her knowledge of her father's crafts hopes to discern which is the real one.  She believes she chose the correct one and insists an Arrowsmith knows which is the correct one.

Seeing his wall of light fail, Nabaninth notices the dwarves are shooting light guns.  He takes tinder out of his pouch then sets fire to his hair.  As the flames grow, he ignores the pain and uses the fire to bring the beat down on the demons themselves!  He bangs his head to cause the flames to spread even more and the dwarves stare dumbfounded as he begins doing an Orcish sun dance to call forth the powers of fire.  He goes berserk and begins punching and attacking any demons within arms reach.  The dwarves and elves pull back upon seeing the orc leaves burning trails in its crazed determination to kill the shadow demons.  Both begin to ignore the shadows and focus on stopping the fires from spreading.

A figure stares at an orb which reveals the events in the ship.  "Great is this man. Almost dangerous. A pity he is merely an orc and not one of us, or I would make him a Destroyer."  The figure leans back on his celestial chair, a golden throne that allows him to survive the Aether.

Back in the Royal Guard, the plans to depart for the Dark Star is finalized.  The triangle between the Captain and Marigamo is clearly there as they both insist Johnson should ride with them. They leave March to decide who will sit where.

Bludwen decides the disc on the left would be the correct one, given the dwarves would have placed on the right the false one since most take the one on the right.  She sees March smiling, happy she had picked the right one.  Bludwen realizes the smile March showed was of deception, not greed.  Braid Locke challenges ownership of the weapon, claiming she rather own it than continue the trade.    As they argue, Bludwen points the device at March. "I don't trust you."  They turn to see her holding the Ultimate-Nullifer at him.

March tries to claim that Braid Locke hired her to do this job.  He claims proof can be found in his pocket.  Bludwen unfortunately cannot shake the feeling that he isn't lying.  Braid Locke however smiles, given she had already stolen the supposed items he hopes Bludwen to find earlier while they walked in the corridor.   The dwarf tells March to turn the pocket inside out and to his surprise the pocket is empty.  He tries to accuse her of doing this, but the truth is now out.  He promises to tell the truth if Bludwen promises a Dwarven promise to not harm him.  Braid Locke shares everything she had overheard and Bludwen decides to make the dwarven promise not to hurt March.  He admits he was commanded-

A black hand tears through his chest before he could say moer.  Blood explodes out as he falls dead.  The black shadowy figures close in.  Bludwen activates the Ultimate Nullifier and blasts at the shadows closing in.

Nabaninth burns through the corridors, causing the ship tremendous damage.  At one point, however, he burns through the ground and falls.  Rather than stop his fall, he spins like a fireball that leaving a further burning trail behind him.  He finds himself crashing into the brig.  Watcha stares at him shocked, wondering what he wants to do or what he is thinking of doing. But rather than a moment of rescue, the two end up fighting more as Watcha tries to stop him from burning further, while he relishes this chance to fight her again!

The vessel is being abandoned as the shadow attackers grow in number.  Johnson and March rush to get the weapon, as the crew is unaware that Bludwen and the kenders had already gained a hold of it.  Bludwen is in pain, however, as the Ultimate Nullifer has been activated.  March sees her enveloped in what looks like a surge of five elements.  Bludwen is unable to walk, crippled by the immense energies.  She asks Braid Locke to help her go to the ship, only to painfully learn the energies surrounding her tear away her left arm!  The prismatic energies swirl around Bludwen.  Using his knowledge of Adjurations, Johnson casts a spell to protect Bludwen from the energies.  They tell them of the other March, and that the Orc is missing.  The Admiral addresses the whole vessel and calls for the evacuation of the Royal Glory.

Watcha wrestles with him, duty bound to avenge the fall of the Elven structure, while Nabaninth uses the indestructible loincloth to grapple her with an unbreakable rope. They bash into each other, stuck together, until the Royal Glory itself explodes.  As the vessel breaks apart, Nabaninth and Watcha struggle in the crashing debris, kept alive by the local self-contained environment of the orc's legendary loin cloth.    They crash into the nearest planet, and yet not find death.  Instead, the lioncloth's ancient magics do the impossible and spare them.  But just as Watcha thought she avenged her fallen Elven heritage, Nabaninth reveals he survived as well.  The two learn it will be up to them to build a whole new tribe anew.

With the ship falling apart, the groups make their way to escape the collapsing vessel and make their way to the docks.  Thankfully, Johnson had set the ship to be able to leave the dock as soon as possible.  Johnson calls upon the living light and it guides them as they fly away from the Royal Glory in the Stamen.

As the survivors consider how they will deal with the Dark Star, the "client" arrives.  Seated on the Golden Throne, the terrifying figure arrives and challenges them to submit the weapon to him.  Bludwen, Johnson, March and Braid Locke realize the end is near.  Braid Locke installs onto herself the arm to try and give her a still functional limb.  March, however, then reveals at this moment his true loyalties.

The master of the dark shadows turns out to be a cruel and terrible being.  One who worships death and the darkness.

Sacrifices.  Tragic decisions.  And cruelties lead to unexpected moments.  Braid Locke moves to hold the figure hostage with her cybernetic arm.  But the dark cloak of March actually prevents Braid from properly grappling him.  Jamming the gun behind him, he fires at her.  The shot misses.  Pain rips into March.  He embraces it gladly, knowing he has served his master well.

"Don't you see, little Exorcist, the darkness has been waiting for this moment?"

Calling upon his magic, and tapping to the Undying Light, Johnson feels unable to call the magic he can summon.  The dark being explains it is because they are under his dark star.    A blast of energy strikes and the group sees Captain Lazada arrive, near death but armed.  He fires at the enemy and Bludwen risks the weapon to fire a second time.   Seeing his master struck, March is distracted!

He tries to pull the Nullifer away from Bludwen, but a shot strikes him from the Captain's weapon.  His arm now hangs useless.   The purple skinned master smiles at all of them, amused to see how they are-

A crash.  The Pistil slams into where the Dark one was standing! This gives the heroes what might just be the final opening they need to defeat the god like being.

"Give me the weapon," Bludwen screams out!

Johnson grabs hold of March, screaming at him to explain why he is doing this.  Braid Locke grabs the weapon and flings it at Bludwen, but she fails to throw it properly and its skids to the ground.  She pulls herself free form the chair and leaps for it.

Johnson yells at March to answer. He reminds him of their friendship.  March, however, reminds him he is a Disciple of the Dark.  And admits he didn't know they were friends.   Bludwen looks up to see the purple figure emerge from the debris and fire.  And in his hands, the unconscious body of Merigamo.  Bludwen fires the Nullifer.    The blast captures the Captin.  It captures Merigamo.  And it captures the purple figure.  The blast of energy washes over and becomes a bright while blinding light.

"You were the only elf that has ever treated me like I was not some celebrity," Johnson gasps.  March reveals an artifact from his bag, and jams it into his wound to activate it with his own blood. "Then I shall save you... my.... friend."  The Soul Prison activates, pulling them both inside.  Forever trapped. But in their own way, alive.

*

Bludwen looks around, now alone.  The ship is fractured.  It is only a matter of time before it collapses.  The Captain, the sister and the purple one are gone.  Nullfied.  Somehow, Johnson's Prismatic shield had protected her.  But death was but a few breaths away.  She lights a cigarette, telling herself this would not be a bad way to die.

*
From the shadows, Braid Locke smiles.  She reaches for the shiny things left behind and quietly vanishes into the shadows.   Maybe she survives.  Maybe she doesn't.

But in the end, no one knows how dreams end in the Aether Sea.

It is happening...

... that is all I can say for now.

Belated Happy GM's Day!

My belated GM Appreciation day greetings go to the following:

To Ryan Mendoza who taught me to run games, and inspired me to start having my own style, thank you. I will never forget Shel Downwind, Paladin of Tymora.

To Rocky SunicoErwin Anthony Pilar NañesMahar Abrera Mangahas, and Adrian Martinez, thank you for running games for me as well. It is not often I be a player instead of the GM, but I do enjoy that role sometimes too.

And to that girl who ran a game for me at one Strategicon, who spent 90% of the time playing the game alone (to the point of telling us we were playing her pregenerated characters wrong, then proceeding to then monologue the five player scene alone, shushing us all cause we were doing it wrong), and to the upper classman from my schoolbus who allowed me very briefly to try a rpg for the first time before killing me with a volcano, thank you for giving me a glimpse of what I should never become and making me become a huge fan of my players.

Happy belated GM Appreciation day, everyone!

GM Seminar #2 another success!

Here's the stuff from the second GM Seminar.  I'm still behind in releasing the notes version of my talk, but the guys behind the event have released the video (and audio) captures so I thought it best to at least get those out so more can enjoy them.

(Egad my tummy has gotten HUGE! I have to stop eating all them donuts heheh)

I decided to talk about Narrative Control, given it was one of the big paradigm shift moments I had when I started to explore more indie role-playing games.  I'm happy that there were those who connected with the topic, and a few who had explicitly  expressed an interest in looking into expanding more their experiences with it.

And I will love them to bits despite Justin spelling my name wrong :-P

The awesome guys have created a channel to document all the talks every month.  Check out the rest of the videos here:

Among the many cool topics was the fun Gardo-centric discussions and for that we have BJ to thank.  For those who are not familiar with Gardo, however, I can only share this video as an idea as to why he came up.

Not in the picture is Mon, one of the erudite gamers who will be having his own talk in the coming March seminar, who shared a lot of good tips and ideas on gaming as well.    This March, things are still being organized, but I've shot out a poll for possible topics I can cover, and it looks like NPCs: Not Pathetic Caricatures will be the topic I'll cover this March.

Once again, special thanks to my partner, Rocky, who made sure to take photos during the event.  I really have to work on having the right amount of pauses for him to take better shots of me during the talk. :-P I keep looking like I'm on the verge of running away heheh.

See you guys there!

Recruitment #13 : Lacuna

01/31/2015
Recruitment #13
Lacuna, Part I. The Birth of Mystery and the Girl from Blue City

With the recent incursions the Company has had, new protocols has been set up to secure all new applicants.  Reception reminds the applicants there is no such thing as Wine level clearance and are reminded that the Dara Protocols are in place.  Sadly, they are not given information on what these are given their clearance levels.

Agent Draper, 30 years old and male, was trained by Senior Agent Snyder.  He has learned Meditation and is a Writer and a Doctor.

Agent Singer, 25 years old and male, was trained by Agent Duke.  He has learned Endurance and is a Caller and Armed with a Submachine gun.

Agent Fisher, 29 years old and male, was also trained by Agent Duke.  He has learned Endurance and is a Driver and is aware of a Safehouse (the Garden) as well as has a Contact in the Blue City (Agent Mason).  He is assigned the role of Team Leader.  He has access to Reciprocity as well, but has no recollection what is supposedly can do.

The three are inserted into the Blue City and sadly, due to existing Static, the Team Leader upon arrival in the Blue City should attempt to contact Control immediately.  Security reasons require such information to be gained while within the Blue City.  Memory loss is common in the Blue City.  Agent Singer considers having "challenges" among agents to recognize each other given the possibility of counter agents and the use of Cover, as well as the abuse of certain skills by Rogue Agents.  Fisher asks if it is possible to use a terminal to see what Reciprocity means.  Reception checks if Control has given him clearance for it, but sadly is informed that it cannot be clarified while in Reception.  When Fisher asks the Receptionist for her name, she simply states she is the Receptionist and her clearance level is Green.  Agent Draper tries asking if there are any organizations directly opposing the Company.  Reception explains there are no actual organizations directly opposing the Company, contrary to rumors they may have heard.  She wishes them all the best and they prepare for Insertion.

They sit comfortably, place their hands on their laps, and close their eyes.

*

In the Blue City, and the first to open his eyes is Agent Fisher, who finds himself in a dark room.  There is a window where blue light filters in.  He is alone in his suit with the Lacuna device.  There are two doors, one in front of him and one behind him.   He picks up the device and pins it onto his shirt.

Agent Draper opens his eyes to find himself in a dark parking lot.  The left building is taller than the right.  Both look old and dilapidated. A billboard above stands, but is not illuminated.  He too is in his suit and wears the Lacuna device on his shirt.  He hopes the others are fine.

Agent Singer opens his eyes to find himself in a crowded office.  There are desks and chairs all around.  There is not much light to see.  There was a chime, a soft sound somewhere nearby.  He finds the Lacuna device and tries to wear it.  One side shows overturned tables and filing cabinets.  He Calls Control.  Control asks him to identify himself and after clearing that, Singer requests for Intel on where the others are.  But Control seems to be having trouble locating the others.  "They should be within the block radius.  The team seems to be suffering from Static.  Did you notice a lot of blue?"

The chime.  It sounded louder for Agent Draper.  He starts fumbling in the dark looking for where the sound came from.  He starts looking around the dark room for where it may be.  He finds a device on the floor. A phone or a camera?  He feels like he owned it as some time in his life.  It is plugged to a socket on the base of a street light.

Fisher goes to the window, and peers down to see a parking lot.  There is a man in a suit who is looking around and searching the ground.  Fisher tries calling out to Agent Singer in his head, but nothing happens.  He never was trained to be a Caller.  He goes to the front door and listens in or tries to smell anything that might be there.  He finds movement.  The smell is of old books and dust and rotten wood.  He then checks the back door and hears dripping water. The smell is of heavy and thick.  He returns to the front door and opens it slightly to peer who might be there.

Singer hears footfalls.  He turns to the sound and draws his weapon, ready for a possible hostile.  He sees the door, approaches it, but as it opens before he gets there!  He readies the gun and asks, "Doctor?"

The head peering from the other side replies, "Who?"   Singer and Fisher identifies each other.  Happy to have reunited, Fisher insists they try to find the last guy.  He mentions the man in the parking lot below who might be Draper, but he's not sure.  Fisher tries to recall where the Safe House would be.  He remembers the Garden.  He recalls the thorn bush which will hurt those who want through it, but the pain should strip away any disguises.  They will have a secure Hard Line inside.  Fisher tells Singer about it.  Singer insists they should get out of the room.  Fisher tries to recall who his Contact is, and he realizes the name of the Contact is Agent Mason. He stays at the Bridge.  Or at the Bar.  Fisher knows Mason can be trusted.  Singer asks about the man Fisher saw in the parking lot and they decide to check him out.  Especially since a vehicle would be a great thing to have in the Mission.

Draper hears the device suddenly give out a ringing noise, then die out.  It's.. a mobile device?  He also finds a box.  Moving to the light, he holds the box there and sees the message upon it:

Do not trust the Cat.

Inside, he finds three more Lacuna devices.  He pockets them, not sure where it came from.  He decides to carry the box with him.  He does not know where the two other agents are.  The cars around the parking lot are filled with spider webs.  Draper does not recall noticing that before.

Fisher and Singer brushes away spiderwebs that catch their faces as they move in the dark room.  In the office, they see the stacks of tables and chairs which may be blocking another door.  Based on the orientation, Fisher considers the stack on where it would be in reference to the parking lot.  The stack seems to be a further route.  They consider checking the other room, but then hear a car coming up.  Peering out the nearest window, Singer laments the billboard is blocking his view.  They quietly rush back to the other room.  Fisher tests the other door and finds it locked.  Singer tries to break door the door with Force, ramming it open with his shoulder.  The door groans, then the wood breaks.  He tumbles inside and nearly slips on the wet floor.  The room is a bathroom.  Tiled floor and walls, feels almost prison-like with its tiny windows.  The bathrub has overflowed and water has spilled onto the floor.  There is a body inside the tub.  Nearly slipping, Singer regains his balance in the last second.

Fisher thought he heard skittering somewhere from the other room.  Singer leans forward with a gun pointing and notices there is no smell of rot.   He submerges his other arm into the water to lift the body out.  Fisher looks out the window for a way down and finds a fire escape; an old metal thing that would probably groan against their weight.  Light flashes and Fisher realizes it seems to be coming from the office.  He closes the bathroom door quietly, and starts sliding out of the widow onto the fire escape.

Singer realizes the water is warm and thick.  It might not be water.  He pulls the body out and water splashes out onto the floor. The face had been bashed in so many times he cannot make out any features.  The body, however, is male.  The clothes suggest a Mystery Agent's apparel.

At the parking lot, a car drives into the area.  Draper ducks behind a car as it arrives, its headlights streaking across the area.  It is a bright red car and it comes to a stop and its driver steps down.  Draper is around sixty feet away.  When the door swings open, he suddenly smells orchids. Staying hidden, he looks at the device in his hand and sees messages coming in.  He is not sure if he can trust them.  He looks for a better vantage point to observe the woman from the car without revealing himself.  The woman in red lights a cigarette and surveys the location.  Draper's foot gets caught on something and he falls.  She turns to the sound, "Who's there? Is someone there?"  Draper opts to stay silent.

"Fisher, is that you?" she asks.

"Maybe," Draper replies, "Who are you?"  Draper sees her maneuvering to keep the red car between her and his voice.  "If you are Agent Fisher, then you should be able to answer this challenge:  What is your job?"

Draper trusts his gut feelings and answers, "Whatever needs to be done."

Singer tells Fisher the body is a dead agent and that they best have to get out.  Singer plants the body across the room to place it against the door.  Whoever is in the other room is about to make its way to them.  Fisher sees the woman in red, smoking and talking to someone he cannot see.  Did he hear his own name?  Singer has the body pinned to the door and moves to join Fisher at the window.

The woman in red accepts the answer and tells Draper, whom he thinks is Fisher, that she is happy he is safe.  Seeing him, she wonders if he's in Cover, given he looks like someone else, and tells him to get into the car.  "I was waiting for your return."

Draper asks who she is, and the question makes her worry until he admits, "Its the Blue City.  Memory loss is..."  She agrees, "Memory loss is common in the Blue City."

Fisher and Singer use parkour to descend down the fire exit as quietly and quickly as they can, scaling the metal to reach the ground level.  Singer lets Fisher go down first, and he covers him if necessary.  Fisher quickly follows to do the same.

"We don't have time to waste," the woman in red explains, "Its me." She opens her red jacket to reveal a shock of yellow color beneath. "It's Kira.  Get in the car, we have to leave."

Seeing the two getting back into the car, Singer tries to Call Draper.  But Fisher ends up yelling aloud, "Doctor!"

Draper turns to the voice and replies, "Who!"

Kira turns to the voice and realizes Fisher at the distance.  She looks at Draper, and realizes he is someone else.  Singer comes into view with a gun tells her to keep her hands up.  She tells them there's no time, that they have to go to the Garden, and that Hostile Personalities are close by.  Fisher tells them trust him and to get in the car.  Singer asks why she knows about the Safe house, but Fisher tells them to just trust him.

Shots are fired from above as the Hostile Personalities open fire.  Fisher rushes inside with Draper.  Singer sits on the passenger seat and trains the gun at Kira.  "Drive! Drive!" Singer gasps as Kira roars the engine and drives off.  The bullets do not find their mark.

As the car tears down the road, Singer asks Fisher why they are trusting Kira given they were told in Reception that Kira is one of the rogue agents. Fisher asks Kira how she knows about the Safe House and she tells him that was where they last talked before he Ejected.  He admits his memories are once again faded because of the Blue City.  "God damned memory loss... makes everything harder."

Kira seems amused that the Company is now referring to her as a rogue agent.  Draper, seated behind Kira, stays focused on her in case she tries anything.  Singer thinks about Calling Control to inform them they have the rogue agent in custody, but Fisher suggests they go to the safe house for now.  Kira dares him to try it.  She hisses about them not trusting her, especially Fisher given she helped him get out before, and falsified the reports to grant him the Commendation he needed to get back in.  Fisher realizes that did happen during Reception.

Singer realizes the dead body of a Mystery Agent in the bathtub might have been one of the agents with Fisher when Kira helped him.  Singer lifts his hand to show her the bluish buzzing at his palm, "What is this?"   She stops the car, and yells at them all to get out.  "I'm not driving around with them.  These assholes are carrying Static with them!"

"I'm not going anywhere without them," Fisher insists.   "We're trusting you, so you better trust us." He apologizes but they are all doing what they need to stay safe.  "Let's just discuss things better once we are all in the Safehouse."

"For all I know, you're going to go sing all the way to Control," Kira snaps at Singer, "Let me guess, you're a Caller?"  Singer snaps back, "But I'm the one with a gun."

Fisher tries to impress to them all that they have to trust each other and make their way to the Safe House, and she admits, "Only because Mason trusts you."  Fisher tells them that Mason is his Contact in the Blue City.  Singer puts down the gun and tries to get some rest while in the car.

The ride is a quiet one.  They all find a moment to rest a bit for the remainder of the ride.  Singer keeps looking back, still tense, during the ride.

Kira shares what happened in the last mission.   Four agents with Fisher as the team leader.  They were looking for the scarlet woman and learns she had been infiltrated and replaced by Jigsaw.  They lost three of the men and Fisher only realized too late the fourth was working for Jigsaw.  He revealed he worked for the enemy when he revealed the Cat mask he has.  Draper shows them the box he found with the warning about not trusting the cat.  "Damn it Fisher," Singer hisses.

Fisher admits he thinks he was sent back to eliminate Kira.  He tells Kira he trusts the two other agents.  She asks Singer about his background, and he shares they were both trained by Agent Duke.  Singer admits he was trained especially to handle small arms.

Draper asks Kira if she would happen to know a certain number.  He shows the number on the mobile device.  She doesn't admit she recognizes the number, even if it actually is Mason's.  They ask why she is branded as a rogue agent if she's helping them, and Singer suggests maybe it is to act as a double-Cover.  Fisher muses that someone in the Company might be a double agent as well.  "Either the Company itself is bad, or someone high enough in the Company is manipulating it."

Singer realizes Kira was Calling someone too during her moment of silence.  "Who are you talking to?"

Kira smiles, "Nice to see you noticed."  Then she glances at Draper through the rear view mirror. "I guess he told you. You don't recall meeting Mason in the past, do you?"  Draper admits he doesn't.  He suggests they play this out to see where it goes.

Fisher admits the Company considers both Kira and Miner as rogue agents.  She explains its because they've realized the Company is lying to them, about who they are, and what they are doing.  Draper though maintains communications with the mystery messenger sending him messages through the mobile device.

Draper asks if Kira is a Writer, and she admits she's been in the Blue City for so long she has learned a lot of techniques.  Before she can say more, however, a truck suddenly slams into the car and forces it off the road!  The group braces themselves as the car spins out of control.  The car slams into an alleyway and the truck continues down the road.  The agents quickly disengages from the vehicle and hurry into the street.  She rushes down the road and tells them to regroup in the Garden.  She rushes into the nearest building, dropping her red jacket as she slips inside.  The others hurry out and opt to head in the same direction, rushing into the same building.  The three step inside to see its is a posh looking restaurant and some sort of a dinner is going on.  Everyone is dressed in posh clothing with suits, elaborate gowns and masks.  Animal masks.  Draper notices at least five people in cat masks.   A woman in a rabbit mask stands at the entrance with a list of names looks at them and smiled, asking if she can be of any help.  There are numerous animal masks on the table.  Fisher whispers to Draper to pick up a mask they can wear.  Thinking of blending in, Draper reads the names out loud as they plan to be guests for the dinner.  The names are vaguely familiar:  P. Garces, J. Allosado, J. Roxas.  Singer claims to be J. Allosado and picks up the Elephant mask.  He hands the J. Roxas mask to Fisher, an orangutan.  Draper gets the P. Garces mask, a great white shark.  "Enjoy the hunt," the rabbit girl tells them. Singer jokes if this comes with a rifle.

They approach the tables and realize the "animals" at the tables are of similar types: sharks in one, great cats in another, and so forth.  The three start to worry what this hunt is supposed to be about.  A woman with a narrow face (an ostrich) watches them as they pass, and then pulls out a pair of spectacles to look at them.  Singer greets her good day.  Fisher joins the table with the great apes.  They talk about how the lions have been winning the hunt and how they hope to win this time.  At the corner of Draper's eye, he catches Kira slipping into the kitchen.  The Elephant mask joins the other pachyderms.  A woman with a wholly mammoth mask admits she's surprised they all appeared at the same time.  Singer claims they were friends and took the same ride.  She laments how she doesn't like them "mingling."  Singer tries to respond, "Don't worry, an elephant never forgets." But she retorts, "You do."  Draper joins the other sharks.  A door slams open and two men enter the room in cold war Russian military garb.  The two, however, do not recognize the Mystery Agents.  Then they carefully back away.

Fisher realizes something is up and makes a public display of needing to go to the bathroom.  The other monkeys are a bit bothered that he wants to go. "I guess my bladder is kind of-" The other monkey however questions his urge to go given "My bladder is quite well done."  Singer tries to excuse himself to smoke, but the others all draw out their own cigars after statements on Global Warming and the like.  Draper realizes at his table the other sharks aren't really wearing masks.  The hammerhead mask's eyes blink.  "Who do you think it is," the tiger shark asks Draper, "Could you be the one?  You can never know which one at each table is the one wearing a mask... I can't wait for the hunt. Its been so long since I've had flesh."  He hurriedly makes his way to the bathroom, giving some excuse about coming down with a cold.

At the restroom, the three meet up to discuss where Kira had gone but to their surprise, there are three people inside who gasp in fear.  The three ask if they are... and the three huddle to one corner.  They talk about how the hunt will begin and they can't run.  That the moment any of them run, the hunt will charge.  Singer tries to have the waiter serve some drinks to his table, but the waiter admits drinks are not until after the hunt.    The people are terrified, talking about how the hunt happens every week.  Fisher tries to find a way out via the bathroom.  Singer considers running out of the windows but one of the people tells them that the hunt begins the moment people run out.  Singer ties a handkerchief over his face and offers his mask to another to swap with them.  They ask why they are here and Draper tells them they are here to stop the game.  They are not sure how to help the people.

Agent Fisher.  Can you hear me?  This is Kira.

She chides them for stepping inside and realizes they don't recall the location.  She states she was able to safely come in because she used Cover.

You are in the Zoo.  You can't get out.  I'll have to find a different way.  Buy time.

Heavy knocking begins to slam on the door, and the waiter is asking if everything is alright inside.  The people are pleading that the three help them, but when one mutters, "Oh what's the point, its not as if you are Mystery Agents or anything," Singer homes in on the statement and asks him to explain.  Fisher tells them they need to buy Kira time.  Singer calls out claiming he is having trouble with his make-up.  Fisher asks the three others to explain more what they can about the hunt and how they can help.  They admit all they know is that when they make the mistake of stepping in here, there is no going out.  When asked of any recollection of what happened the last time, they admit they died.

Singer realizes the lions are probably the most vicious given their reputation.  But all the other tables have at least one predator.   Or worse, the six of them are the non-animals.  Knowing the hunt begins once they run, they consider returning to their seats while asking casual.  Another knock and they are told to step out.  Draper reminds everyone to stay calm and never run.  Fisher wets his hands and steps out.

As they step out, they nervously look around for possible ways out.  Fisher hopes to make his way to the kitchen, but then the music stops and everyone else stands and starts applauding as they emerge from the restroom.  Many are starting to lick their lips, if they had them.  Other are starting to gnaw unconsciously, baring their sharp teeth.  The waiter tells them to all stay where they are.  Fisher whispers hurriedly to the others to find a way to the kitchen while he buys them time.  Fisher grabs a goblet of wine and starts giving a talk to distract all those present with his rambling speech.

Singer Calls Control, whispering to it to ask about the Zoo.  Control states that records show the Mystery Agents have been in the Blue City for over two hours and they have not asked for intel.  Singer explains the team leader is distracting the hostile personalities while Fisher explains where they are.  Control is horrified that they are near the outskirts and he explains they were chased down by a truck.    "Thats why I am calling you now, for help."

The speech captivates the animals, distracting them as Singer and Draper consider their options.  As Draper nears the door to the kitchen, he notices the Hammerhead staring at him.  He realizes going into the kitchen might be considered running.  He opts to stay in place.

Singer reports the three dead agents and tries to tell them to Eject.  "You are not supposed to be there!  You are not supposed to-" but Static takes over the line.  Fisher glances at the two and sees Draper has not stepped to the kitchen.  He has not gathered the weapons.  Singer successfully convinces all of the hunters to close their eyes and after twenty-minutes to open it.  Draper glances at the ceullar and realizes the message there is suggesting something.  He walks towards the crowd and hears Fisher mumble to the rest to head to the kitchen.  The three break into a quick walk to the kitchen and as the door is shoved open, the animals count down.

The kitchen is filled with stacks of meat.  Singer grabs a leg to jam the door.  Draper realizes the leg is human, not an animal leg. Fisher grabs a pair of knives.  The message Draper receives is "Kiss a Frog and Make a Wish"

"We're supposed to Eject," Draper tells the others.  Singer and Draper hit their Lacuna devices to Eject.  Fisher sees the black pits where the two earlier stood.  The door slams open.

Singer hits the Lacuna device.

He sees the sharp teeth and fangs closing in.

Reception.

The three look around and see each other.  They are all seated at the table, lethargic but alive. The Receptionist is calmly waiting.  Singer mutters it was an interesting trip.  Fisher apologizes that they got into trouble and had to run away.  He asks what they saw in the report and she tells them they are welcomed as new Applicants as Mystery Agents.  Singer mutters he's confused given he thought they already were Mystery Agents.  Receptionist apologizes and reports to Control that one of them recalls already being a Mystery Agent.  Draper admits he too recalls Reception telling them they were Agents.  Singer mutters, "It must be a Blue City thing" but this makes Reception more curious.  Fisher starts stressing they are just confused and are wondering when they will actually begin Insertion.  They are all worried they may have said more than they should have.

Door opens.
An older man steps inside.  His tie is white.  He walks up to the three.  Draper recognizes Senior Agent Snyder.  He tells them Reception informed him of a problem.  He asks Agent Number Two if he recalls anything strange.  Singer claims he does not recall anything.  Draper is confused as to why they have not dived yet.  He asks Agent Draper to guide Agent Number Three through the Reception process.  Snyder asks Singer to accompany him to the door.

"Something feels fishy, I don't think we were supposed to remember anything," Draper whispers to Fisher.  He agrees.   They start to wonder if Clearance level Green is not actually just a clearance category, but a level of access to the Blue City.  Have they been in the Blue City all this time?

Outside the room, Snyder leads Singer outside of the corridor.  Singer asks where they are going, but before his question can be completed, Snyder shoots Singer on the chest.  He tells Reception, "Clean this up" then tightening his tie he uses Cover to become Reception and steps back into the room.

The Receptionist in the corridor walks up to Singer's body, places a Lacuna device onto him and activates it.  The body vanishes.  "Control, one body on the way.  He was remembering things.  Soon enough, we will uproot all of the rogue elements."
